Bilateral Investment

Bilateral investment relations are strong and cover diverse sectors. Many of the significant Taiwanese corporations already have their presence in India. From ICT to tyres, banking to construction, textiles to steel, agro products to synthetic rubber, they cover an extensive range of industry. Delta Electronics (台達電- Tái dá diàn), Mitac (神通資訊科技- Shén tōng zī xùn kē jì), Evergreen (長榮- Zhǎng róng), CSRC (中橡- Zhōng xiàng), Fengtay (豐泰- Fēng tài), Maxxis (正新輪胎- Zhèng xīn lún tāi), CDC (世正開發- Shì zhèng kāifā), Wistron (緯創- Wěi chuàng), Foxconn (鴻海- Hónghǎi), Fair Friend Group (友嘉- Yǒu jiā), CTBC (中國信託- Zhōngguó xìntuō),  Kymco (光陽- Guāng yang) are some of the more prominent companies which have invested in India.  

It is estimated that there are over 140 Taiwanese companies have already invested in India. Many others are currently evaluating their opportunities. Indian States with major Taiwanese investment presence are Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Various MoUs and agreements in force are enriching the partnership and cooperation between the two sides in multiple sectors including SME cooperation, Agricultural cooperation, Industrial collaboration, Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and Bilateral Investment Agreement.

TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) also has its four offices in India. The offices in India are located in New Delhi (opened in 2018), Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

Also, since January 2019, ‘Taiwan Plus’ desk under ‘Invest India’ is fully operational for exclusively facilitating Taiwanese investment in India.
